(Rewrites story)

SIMFEROPOL, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Crimea was in a total blackout on Friday, as local authorities were working to restart power supplies fast, Crimea’s Fuel and Energy Minister Vadim Belik told reporters.

“Total blackout occurred in Crimea. An automatic emergency response system went off in the Krasnodar Region. Active repairs on four lines are taking place. We are working to restore power supplies on the peninsula as soon as possible,” Belik said.

A source in the local government told PRIME earlier that power consumers in Simferopol, Yalta, Feodosia and Yevpatoria saw outages after 2:00 p.m. local time.
